Drug Abuse Policy

Central Nursing College fully supports the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act legislated by the U.S. Congress. In cooperation with other agencies and organizations, we provide a program of education on the dangers of substance abuse. The program uses pamphlets, books, articles, posters as well as other instructional tools to describe the effects drugs have on physical and mental health. Counseling is made available to all students. Also available are informative materials on State, Federal and local regulations regarding the repercussions of drug use. Central Nursing College maintains contact information on centers for additional counseling, treatment and rehabilitation.

Occupational Objectives

All Central Nursing College Administrative Policies, Educational Requirements, Student Counseling and other services are structured specifically to prepare the graduates for the workplace. As such, the school is committed to providing intensive, comprehensive, dynamic classroom and skills instruction in all aspects of the allied health care sector. Central Nursing College is dedicated to accomplishing the following for the student upon graduation:

  • Certified Nurse Assistants and Home Health Aides. Students will secure entry-level employment as nursing assistants while they wait for their fingerprints to establish background clearance. At this point they will receive state certification as a CNA, HHA, or both. Once a student possesses the actual license, he or she can gain employment in a Home Health agency, or registry.
  • Vocational Nursing. Students will obtain entry-level employment as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. When the actual license is issued by the state, graduates will be able to respond to job opportunities in a wide variety of facilities including long-term care facilities, hospitals, clinics and doctor’s offices. These positions are highly specialized and there is a tremendous shortage of LVNs in the greater Los Angeles area.
